About Our School

About Our School

The school was founded in 2005 by Lindsay DiGiuseppe Bowman, Valerie Shelton Tabor, and Kelley Calhoon. Ms. DiGiuseppe Bowman was a professional dancer and wanted to create both a home for the non profit professional company, Ballet Dallas, and implement an exceptional educational program for the dance school. Over the last 14 years, Ms. DiGiuseppe Bowman remains School Director & Owner of the School. Since 2005, the School continues to offer strong and diverse dance and fitness programs, including classes for the total beginner thru advanced dancer, no matter what age with established programs in Kinder Program: ages 18months-6 yrs, Recreational Program ages 6 yrs+, Pre-Professional Program: ages 9yrs+, and the Adult Dance Program. Techniques offered include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip hop, Contemporary, Creative Movement, Parent & Me, Pilates, Barre, and more! In January of 2013, after 8.5 years in Lakewood, the school relocated to their new home on Mockingbird.

Our instructors have extensive training and professional experience. CBD has five state of the art studios equipped with Marley and sprung-wood floors. All teaching methods are geared towards injury-free training. Our instructors encourage all dancers to broaden their artistic horizons and realize their creative potential.

Dance Programs

Children's Dance Program

Children excel in all aspects of life when we cultivate their interest in the arts. Whether their desire is to become a performer or a patron, we seek to educate children in the art of dance, physically and mentally, instilling an appreciation of the art form for years to come.

Adult Dance Program

It is never too late to start dancing – and that is why CBD offers several adult dance and fitness classes from the beginner to the professional. Whatever your skill level, we are sure to have the perfect class for you! We are Dallas’ hub for dance by offering the best variety and quantity of Adult Dance Classes!

Master Dance Classes

We offer master classes of different techniques with guest teachers throughout the year. These are specialized classes and vary in cost, therefore the master classes are paid for separately from children’s monthly tuition or adult’s class cards. Please check back regularly to see upcoming guest teachers and exciting new master classes offered!

Summer / Winter Dance Camps

Contemporary Ballet Dallas offers monthly workshops for the Summer (ages 2-18 years), as well as our more focused Summer intensives for ages 10 years and up. Workshops are offered in Creative Movement for 2-3 year olds, Ballet/ Tap combo classes for ages 3-5 year olds, and ballet, tap, hip hop, contemporary and jazz classes for ages 6 years and up for most of the Summer break.

Our fun Drop and Shop camps for little ones (ages 3-5 years and 6-9 years) are sure to be a treat this time of year for mom or dad and their little ones, offering you a chance to get your last minute shopping completed before the holidays and your little ones a fun and active outlet during the cold break and season!

Performance Ensembles

In addition to the two performance opportunities for school year students, the School offers performance ensemble programs including its SCBD Youth Ballet, SCBD Tap Ensemble & SCBD Hip Hop company. The selection process for these ensembles is by teacher recommendation or audition, which is held at the end of the prior school year. If a student is new to the school, that student can be evaluated in order to join. To read more about our performance ensembles, click here.
